Your Visit
We’re thrilled to welcome you to the Mahalia Jackson Theater! Named after the city’s own legendary Gospel singer and social activist, Mahalia Jackson, our 2,100 capacity theater is nestled in the heart of Louis Armstrong Park. Stop by for the best from performing arts groups, concerts, comedy and more!
A Tremé Landmark
The Mahalia Jackson Theater opened in the heart of Louis Armstrong Park in 1973 and has been home to everything from performing arts groups, like the New Orleans Ballet Association, to iconic performers, such as Diana Ross, ever since. After Hurricane Katrina brought in over 14 feet of water, the theater went under a roughly $30 million renovation. Today, we are ready to welcome all to experience the magic of live entertainment.
